at the end of the fight, Rocky is still standing, while Apollo Creed is sitting down. One analyst said, that Rocky won? Best Picture over Star Wars and Network, because it stayed true to the format and structure, while the other two films got too epic and wandered. High Noon also fit the format and structure and won Best Picture. What did The Mission in; was two main characters, too epic a scale and not the right stereotypes to catch the Academy's attention.

about a half an hour from the end of the movie comes the second plot point. it makes the film head in the direction of the climax. about ten minutes away from the end of the movie, the climax begins. if the film maker so desires, a denouement is okay. some where along the way, the protagonist must state how he wants the story to work out. In Rocky, that happens just before the big fight? happens. Rocky says, win or lose, he wants to still be standing at the end of the fight.

a film starts. something happens that sends the film in a direction. during the first ten minutes, you meet the protagonist, and that person? takes the film in the direction, they want it to go. about a half an hour into the film, something happens that changes both the direction of the film and how the protagonist feels about what's going on. that's called the first plot point. during the next half hour to ninety minutes, the film twists and turns thru it's plot.

the Oscar Academy also has agendas of it's own. Sometimes they "play favorites", sometimes they give an Oscar to someone who should have gotten one before, but didn't. Like when John Wayne got an Oscar for True Grit,? that was really for She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. And, sometimes the Academy promotes social agendas like the one in Crash, over the one in Brokeback Mountain. They also have a tendency to give Osars to films that fit a certain format and structure.

Hollywood LOVED the Exorcist. It was full of the stereotypes they're familiar with. Hollywood, most likely, did not "get" this film, as it was not about subject matter they liked thinking about. Also, it was a fairly accurate portrayal of Native South America, at that time in history. Hollywood really isn't keen on historically correct portrayals of Native America. Hollywood LOVED Little Big Man. It was full of stereotypes they? were comfortable with.

Oscars are handed out to those recipients, the Oscar Academy deems most worthy. To be in the Oscar Academy, you have to have been one of the final nominees in the past. Most of these people are, sadly to say, mostly Jewish of German and Eastern European descent and white anglo-saxon protestants. Few of them like or understand the Catholic Church. Films about the Catholic Church that aren't full of the? stereotypes about Catholics they feel comfortable with, do not attract their attention.

Um magnifico filme, é esta a qualidade que agora falta no cinema, para alem de grandes actores e banda sonora única, têm uma hisória realmente interessante, isto é arte e não algo barato, para apenas vender. Só têm um pequeno se não, como em todos os filmes do mesmo tipo os portugueses e os espanhois são os maus da? fita e esquecen-se que ingleses, franceses, americanos ..., faziam exactamente o mesmo e só por acaso Portugal foi um dos primeiros paises a abolir a escravatura.
